On some days I will feel really horrible. For the most part I won't feel even confident to talk. I am starting to think that this behavior from me isn't normal and that it's not natural. I know that I have a need to be accepted in an environment I am in... and that the school I am going to is a new environment for me... but like... maybe because it was that I was only at the school I am going to currently for only a year makes me feel uncomfortable... but... like... I feel comfortable in the school now. I don't think that feeling bad is normal. I used to do it all the time. I know that the RIA isn't like a psychologist or anything, that would be able to help me with something, but, is like there a name for this? So, and, is it typical of teenagers age 17 to feel depressed?

a lot of teenagers (and people in general) go through emotional times. if it's just an ambiguous bad feeling that you don't know the cause of, there's probably some issue that have that you are not dealing with consciously. talk to a therapist or a counselor maybe. lots of times we have thoughts we dont realize we're thinking, and that can be where the odd feelings come from. they call it the subconscious. you shouldn't ignore it or hope it will just go away, or hide it from people. if you cant figure it out yourself, get some help managing it. there are people who will listen and understand. humans are naturally very complex beings, so it's normal for our feelings to be complicated too.
as for whether it is typical, i dont know if most teenagers feel exactly the way you do, but i know a great amount of teenagers and other people feel or felt depressed at young ages. a lot of serious things can happen during that period of life.

It is natural to feel depressed, just like it's natural to feel nervous, anxious, etc...

llamavore... I feel that you're right. We think without knowing that we're thinking a lot of the time and that's when we we hide things from other people or even ourselves. I feel that at times that I think a lot... and that it's atypical... but from the way you put it... it's actually more normal than I thought.
Hmm... GHXdragon... I would have to agree with you to a certain extent. I don't know why the cause of me feeling like that is.

yes, but usually when we feel those things we know why we feel them. if we dont know why we're feeling them, it can be the case that we're feeling them due to a problem we are repressing or not facing, and if we continue not facing it, it can take a toll on us and cause us more problems later on. a lot of bad behavioral cycles start this way; something happens, we dont resolve it, we do stupid stuff to make ourselves feel better, stupid stuff makes us unhappy, we do more stupid stuff to forget our unhappiness, and so on. so feeling bad for no apparent reason can be evidence of a serious emotional issue, and if we dig it out and deal with it, we improve our overall quality of life remarkably.

Like llama said. People feel depressed/sad/anxious alot, and most of the time they don't know why. If you knew why, you'd act to cure the problem or so basic human instinct tells us. I'm sure if 90% of the people who were depressed knew how to fix it, they would. I go through bits of sadness/anxious/worry, but I can't put my finger on the reasons why. I'll literally wake up one day all happy, and talk to people. The next day.. stay far away from me. Weird stuff, but it happens. Anyway to answer your question its pretty normal for teens and up to get depressed.
