Solution:

do what I do.  Get a laptop that isn't a pile oh shit, buy an HDMI cord, and HDMI out from your laptop to your TV.  Then, goto sound settings and select "HDMI Sound Output".

Then, use your big flatscreen HD TV to watch shows from the interwebs.
