Title: I want a new credit card.
Post by: rlrcstrnthusiast on February 09, 2009, 01:22:44 pm
Mine sucks. Like, it's trashed. I'll get a new one in about a month, but it's been having issues being read in card readers. =\

So I get home from work and what do I have? A new credit card. Guess a good complaining about a shitty one will help ya get a new one.

I'm horribly depressed, though. I thought they'd at LEAST increase my credit limit to $3000.

you know what's sad? some of the cards you get, in the process you automatically give permission for them to send you even more credit cards... so someone who gets your mail can use them and you'll be in debt

Invest in a shredder, shred unwanted credit-card related mail before throwing away.

This is false. As of probably seven years ago, they are no longer allowed to give you cards you do not ask for. This was a replacement card to the old one. Too bad this one will look as jacked in two or whatever years.

I've had a shredder for years. We actually have two at my house so we can shred everything faster. DOUBLE DIPPING LOLZ

Destroy all your credit cards but one and never use it unless it's an emergency or you need to reserve a hotel room or rent a car.

Credit cards are the devil.

Credit card debt is the new slavery.

Fight the power.

Only stupid people that don't actually think about their money end up with credit card debt

I'm sure that was the case, but I believe now they've snuck 'permission to send you new cards' into the fine print of some processes like when you get a best buy or walmart credit card. so if you aren't careful who you get a card with you may unwittingly ask for something you didn't really ask for.

credit is not always debit.

I use a credit card and pay the bill at the end of each month (I have a plan that has no interest if you pay the entire balance each month (it's a special deal they gave me when I was in the army)).  Thus, my credit score goes up.

Then, when I one day years from now needs a loan for a house er sumthin, it'll be approved.

as of now, I almost bought a house for 16k the other day.  I decided against it cause my plan was to flip and sell, but it probably wouldn't have sold.

credit (and loans) are debt. but at least in your case you know how to manage debt profitably

Technically, credit is only debt if you don't have enough money to pay the balance.

using money you dont have = debt

incurring a charge you have to pay later = debt

not licking my balls = debt

Very well disputed, but up until the licking balls part.

I have credit card debt.

I was suppose to be hired for a good paying job, and then be able to pay it all off in a week or two, but I never got the job.

I used to always pay my credit cards off bi weekly at the longest, and my credit is so good that I'm enjoying a 10% rate interests which means that I get very cheap monthly bills. again I always made sure to never have a negative debt.

The average credit card debt is 8000, and credit card companies used to suffer from irresponsibly giving out cards, but now with the new bankruptcy act passed by the senate I believe it was, bankruptcy is now the fault of the credit card taker so banks make sure to give credit cards out, be able to charge NSF fees, late fees, and if they're lucky enough take your belongings if you file bankruptcy.

banks have to much control, and only little silly laws are there to stop them.

actually, they work with you a bit.

My friend is in horrid debt, and told them that he simply can't pay the amount anymore because they have it up so high and he recently lost his job.

They connected him with one of their "counselors", and after a bit of explaining and talking with him (i guess to make sure he wasn't lying), they removed a TON of the intrest that had piled up, dropped the amount of intrest down to something like 2.3 percent, and froze the card (basically, he can't use the card anymore, but they also made it so that he can pay the monthly amount and the intrest is lower.  at the current rate, he can prob pay the card off in 4-5 years instead of 11-12 like it was before.

They aren't all evil.  remember, they want their money, and if you can't pay it, they can add digits forever, but won't get any.

I've found this true with most credit card companies (at least in illinois).
