You can donate to CN in your own name or someone elses.  People sell RL donations for CN money.  Click the "Make Donation" button on the top right of your nation for all the details.

Basically, a $20.00 donation gets 400k, 200 land, 200 infra, and 20 tech, which can be big for larger nations, since it can be cheaper to buy a donation off someone else, than buy 200 infra.
