Nowadays, I just make sure I know when they are going to be doing them to minimize any problems. I was caught by a total surprise on the 3rd however(since our newspaper clearly said that the fireworks for the city were the 4th(which was a misprint, they meant 3rd)). Not very pleasant for me for the first few minutes.

Not really anymore, though some people (or rather, the same person twice) hath been beaten (or rather punched) for intentionally setting off fireworks near me to get a reaction.
