The best Lovecraftian horror film made. Excellent paranoia, immersion, and sense of fear and cosmic horror.

A bit of fanservice for Stephen King fans but its another good Carpenter movie. It tries to be more "acceptably cheesy" than actually scary, but some really cool framework exists for legitimate creepiness--like a painting that shifts over the course of the movie ala Dorian Gray.

"And where do you live, Simon"?
An underrated gem that is poorly acted but wonderfully written and directed. Is consistently regarded as one of the best spiritual or possession oriented horror movies of the last decade and its set piece, an actual mental hospital, is almost a character of its own.

Not unlike Creepshow, it is campy but very well acted and has good production values. Lame ending though.

Twilight Zone is good, but this series is the best from the master himself. More "mature" tales of psychological horror, rather than the more fairytale/what-if scope of TZ.

Best slasher in a long, LONG time.

A good satanic horror story for the more subtle fans. Very atmospheric and prolonged with long one-takes, very little steadicam, etc. Loved the ending.

One of the coolest of Carpenter's stories. I absolutely love this movie, but spoiling anything would ruin it.

Encore is playing 12 hrs of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. Watched part of a couple of them. Pretty predictable stuff, not bad though.

Only Hitchcock movie I've ever seen was Strangers on a Train. Not bad, but not great either. Still made for an interesting story.

How about... NIGHTMARE BEFORE XMAS? Traditionally, me and my friends watch it when it begins to take place. 15 minutes after midnight, Halloween night.

And somehow, by the time it's over, it's the close of Christmas day?

It is if they're partying the right way.

I used to watch The Crow every Devil's Night, i.e. the night before Halloween
-
actually, we watched the crow right before nightmare.
Went through 2 bottles of amaretto and like a gallon of orange juice.

Ohh, you're a manly man.
-
Well, we split the groceries, and my roommate won't drink any alcohol beyond amaretto.
Typically, I like to get Sake when I can (a medic introduced me to it in the Army), but we had amaretto, so that was what we drank.

I actually think they're different? I'm not sure, I know Presents is 20-25 minute skits, hour might be 60 minute movies. I've never seen that one. If the writing is worse then it'd probably be too predictable or drawn out over a whole hour.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure its a different show.
