To be fair, that was a lot of weight.

I can't tell for sure, but some of those look like bumper plates.

It looks like 10 low-quality 45s, two low quality 35s, and an olympic bar. Can't tell for sure thanks to the shitty angle.

The outside two plates are a thin 45 and a 25.  The inside ones could be the cheep 45s, but I can't tell for sure.  They look wider than that, which makes me think a 25 bumper.  But I'd hope they are not dumb enough to put those on the inside.  The only reason I question it is because when i was able to squat that, way back in the day, my legs were much, much larger than that.  But maybe that is why he dropped it.

I'd just like to say I absolutely hate doing squats. Main reason? Rods in my back from the scoliosis surgury when I was 14. It's not that my legs aren't strong and that my back isn't strong (which I assure you, they are), but I don't like the potential for problems.

I'm with you on that.  My biggest issue was my shitty form.  I bent my back forward way too much.  It starts with the fact that I could not put my hands on the bar, so I had to wrap them around the plates.  The top bone on my spine sticks out and the bar would push hard on that even if it was resting on my traps.  On top of that, it killed my knees to get anywhere near parallel.

I pretty much stopped squatting the day my Sr. season was over.  My knees ached daily for many years after I stopped playing football.  Thankfully they are better now.  Still hurt occasionally, but not the chronic pain it once was.

I stick to using the machines for hack squats now. The way I've been doing it is a set of 8-12 and set of 10 jump squats, no rest between those, and right back into hacks blah blah three times.
