Random lnsanity / So, I got another car...

insecurity about driving a sephia is not manly.

I was just stating a fact. My Sephia is a pile of junk. The only reason it even runs right now is because I dropped $2000 a few months ago to get it to run. I drive it still because the mileage is decent and the insurance rates are damned low.

QUICK EDIT:

btw its clutch went out at 60k miles and again at 90k miles. And by out, I mean the clutch was absolutely destroyed both times. First time was because of poor driving. Second time was because of poor installation.
The headlights aren't bright. I changed the bulbs and it's even more dim. They're damned near impossible to adjust, which is annoying.
The taillights are faded pink. I've been pulled over twice for this. I can't be damned to buy new ones.
Half of the interior is ripped apart. I blame this on A.) the second owner (my brother) and B.) the second owner getting it at a police auction.

Also, I replaced the sound system because I was annoyed at having three blown speakers. And a radio that didn't work. In retrospect, I could have Mex'd it up and just put a boom box in my car. I always find it funny when I see a Mex roll by in a ghetto "truck" with no airconditioner or radio listening to one of the Mexican stations on their boom box.

Terrible. Expected RIA to be 1st. XD

So Shy and Loren have been inactive too? And yeah, having a full license REALLY helps.

CSN has a lead on us... for now...

Shy has randomly reappeared now and then and Loren dropped off the face of the earth again, nothing unusual.

Shy's re-emergence always coincides with a CN related post on RI made by yours truly.

Random lnsanity / So I weighed my Bowflex Selectech dumbells today.

What did you weigh them on?  Personally I would blame the scale rather than the weights, assuming you used just a bathroom scale.  They are rarely calibrated correctly.  You need a true weight scale.

Spring-loaded bathroom scale, but they didn't FEEL like they were 52.5 anyway. They felt lighter than the 50 pounders I used at the gym the other day.

They're supposed to be 52.5 pounds each. One was 47. One was 48. I feel ripped off.

Also, back to Jenne, I'd say that MMA is closer to boxing on crack than boxing for NASCAR fans.
I don't see a difference.

To quote a guy I used to work with, who trained in some MMA style martial art (don't remember what it was, just very cross disciplined) who had a sparring match with a boxer,  "... and then I got hit with four punches I never saw coming".

Now, I am by no means saying that a boxer would do well in MMA, and I am sure you would agree an MMA guy would get crushed in a boxing ring.  I appreciate how hard it is.  And, I can see why it has mass appeal.  But, it has mass appeal for the same reason NASCAR does.  It has broader commonality to the common man.

I mean, how seriously can you take a sport when a guy like Brock Lesner comes in, and in 3 matches takes the title.  Yes, I understand he is a beast, as well as a NCAA national champion wrestler.  But how can someone be the best in the biz, only three matches into his career?  BTW, did they ever come out with what the fuck is wrong with him?

MMA fighters who go to boxing and vice versa don't hold much in the way of advantages. I believe Anderson Silva has a 1-1 record in the ring and his loss was a knockout. Both camps train way hard...but in different ways. Boxers have significant power. This cannot be underestimated.

Also, Lesnar had some infection or some shit in the intestines. It went on undiagnosed long enough that he had a hole in his intestines that had to be surgically removed. According to Dana White, there's something else that they're keeping under wraps, and he doubts Lesnar will fight again, which is why the Interim Heavyweight Belt will return to the UFC. It'll be decided at UFC111 in New Jersey.

One question:

You going to post your fights on Youtube so we can watch you choke a brotha out?

I might just suggest for you guys to come cheer me on. <_<
My friends said that if I put in an application for King of the Cage, for the "why I should be considered" section, I should put "He doesn't look dangerous, but then he'll fuck you up."

Also, back to Jenne, I'd say that MMA is closer to boxing on crack than boxing for NASCAR fans. Better yet, if Boxing is Chess, then MMA is Speed Chess. Both have the same essential goal, but in one, you have to be a lot more quick on your feet than the other.

what kind of routine do you use?

Basically, it's based around explosiveness and conditioning. The conditioning part is a real bitch. I can lift all day if I have to, but the conditioning is way harder. I really, really don't know how to describe what I do unless I go into all the exercises, but that'd take a while.

what brought this on?

I feel it's something I'd enjoy and be good at. The job I have now (although some might look down on it) is actually pretty good and pays well. I work at In-N-Out burger. I'm not in management yet and I'm on track for finishing out the year making $30,000. Next year, if things go my way, I should be able to bump it up to $45k, then $60 the next year etc. Store managers average $100k+ a year and have opportunity to go on awesome trips if they run their stores well enough (last year, they took the Store Managers that hit all of their goals for the year to Switzerland).

So I'm not doing it because I have to, but because I think it'd be a good pasttime. I'm aware of the risks, I'm aware of the pain involved...but it gives me something to work towards. Even if I don't end up doing MMA, I'll at least be able to protect myself and my friends.

Also, I'm planning on training in Muay Thai and BJJ. Maybe throw in some other things later, but those are the two I want to focus in.

Don't care about safer.  Boxing is far more technical.  MMA is for thugs.  Boxing is only boring if you only watch lumbering heavyweights.  The middle weight classes is where it's at.  Plenty of action, but still having the knock out power.

Boxing is about as technical as MMA. If you're looking for a technical fight, look to the lightweights up through the middleweight classes. Hell, you can even look to LHWs to deliver technical fights (see: Lyoto Machida vs anyone). Heavyweighs CAN be technical, but most of them are just beasts.

silly noobs, mechwarrior 2 has no ww2 scene.

I made a Nova in Mechwarrior 2 that could Alpha shot any enemy and kill them instantly without having excessive heat. I think it had 3 PPCs and three of the green pulse lasers.

It's not THAT bad, but it's not that good, either, which is why I said it was average.
