Wow. That's some major oxshit. Teachers always complain about how students never enjoy reading, yet they've got their heads shoved too far up their collective asses to realize that they're contributing to the problem. They make reading a dull, boring task when making students read in school, and as a result students associate "reading" with "boring". If they actually started engaging the students and did interesting activities with them instead of making them write yet another cookie cutter paper, you'd find less students who loathed reading. It obviously won't get rid of the problem completely, but it would certainly thin out the number of kids who are bored by reading.

Procreate. Await further instructions.

In all seriousness, I figure the meaning of my own life is to be the best person that I possibly can be. I don't have to win a Nobel Prize or land on the moon in order for my life to have meaning. As long as I go through life making the best of it that I possibly can, by helping others and adding a little light to the lives of the people around me, I'll die a happy man.

The George Carlin avatar does not make you right or smart. Get out.

Of course it doesn't. It's a goddamn avatar. It has no bearing on ANYTHING other than my interests.

And I won't "Get out" simply because some punk I don't know has demanded that I should. I'm simply speaking my mind.

That's it. Any tattered shreds of respect that I still clung onto for my generation have been lost.

Oh sweet baby Jesus are these people fucking dense.

In case you didn't know, I live in Massachusetts, which is pretty much the Liberal capital of America, so naturally most of the people I know save for a select few voted for Obama. That's fine. I happen to like Barack Obama. But oh my God are his young supporters brain dead.

In my Psychology class today, my teacher, Mr. Walsh (who also teaches American Government), was talking about Obama and some of his policies. At one point, he mentions Obama's plan for higher education, (never mentioning whose plan it was) where the government will pay for a student to go through college, provided that the student serves his country and community for a certain period of time through community service and whatnot. Considering that all of the people in that class are seniors, this was a subject of self interest. Suddenly one girl, who not ten minutes earlier was GUSHING over Obama about how much she loved him and his plans, says, AND I QUOTE:

"Wow, really? That's an awesome idea! Now people who can't afford college can actually, like, go and pay for it that way. Whose idea was that?"

Oh sweet baby Jesus I wanted to punt her square in the cunt.

Later, over dinner with my family, I mentioned this. My brother then commented on how he was listening to the radio on his way to work, and Harvard students were calling in talking about the election. HARVARD. STUDENTS. I mean, I don't know about you, but when I think about Harvard students, I think about intelligent people. I mean, they gotta be a least a little intelligent, right? They're in fucking Harvard.

Anyways, these "intelligent people" are calling in droves, talking about voting for Obama. When the DJ asked them why they voted for Obama, a common response was "Uh, well I think that he's got the change that our country needs." When asked "What kind of change?", they responded to the effect of "Y'know, like change..." When asked which policies of Obama's they liked, there was supposedly a LONG, UNSETTLING SILENCE.

Mother. Of. God.

Apparently the majority of my (and your) generation are pants-on-head retarded. They vote for Obama, and yet they have little idea what he even stands for (no, "CHANGE" does not count as a fucking answer). In fact, from my observations, they know MORE about McCain than they know about Obama. They know at least some of McCain's policies, and don't agree with them, so they automatically go the other way, knowing vaguely what Obama says he's going to do. It's like choosing between hug from someone you aren't exactly fond of and a box labeled "Love and Prosperity" -- Sure, the words on the outside of the box promise a lot, but you don't exactly have a guarantee that's there's going to be love and prosperity in that box. There could be a rabid wolverine in there for all that you know, which happens to be practically nothing. Sometimes it's better to go with the devil you know than the devil you don't.

All day, people have been raving about "the young voters" coming out in record numbers to vote, yet there's no one asking these young people why they voted for who they did. People NEED to be called out on their shit every so often, just to make sure that they're in tune with what's going on around them. But no. Our generation is coddled and stroked for "doing their duty by voting", and not being reprimanded for their intense and inane idiocy and ignorance.

I swear to God, if this is the best that my generation can do, I fucking quit.
