Yes/no
It basically comes down to you either engage the guards outright, or try and sneak past them.
However, there are many methods to do both. My preference, is to knock the guards unconcious, then hack to disable the security systems and dance my way past their body.
My friend enjoys sneaking past, and my roommate perfers the "Heavy Automatic Rifle" approach.
It's a VERY fun game however.
You can even tell they like to troll occasinally.
For example, I'm in a secret underground "lair" beneath a news building. There are 2 guards in a hallway, with a camera and a robot nearby. I disable the camera and robots, then dispatch the guards. Theres a door with level 4 security, which I hack my way past (expecting delicious lewts inside the office it's protecting).
I get inside, and find a few credits, and some pistol ammo, nothing worth my time. However, there is a computer with level 4 security. Certainly this must contain valuable intel. I start hacking, and trip a detection, so I use a stop-warm and nuke-virus to get past security. SUCCESS! It's unlocked.
The computer contains a single email requesting an urgent response. I begin reading, expecting some sort of backstory (theres usually lots of backstory with the emails and pocket secretaries when you check them). What do I find? Some nigerian douche is trying to con someone out of 47 million credits.
Seriously. 14 years in the future. Humans have magical robot arms, can go invisible, and have plasma weapons. However, Nigerian Con Artists continue to use the same scam.
THe worst part about that whole thing is it took a good 10 minutes to disable the cameras, take out the guards and hide the bodies, sneak into the office, and then hack the computer.
