Need help with system restore

My computer has been royaly fucked over and I need to use system restore but when I load it says that Vista has errors and I need to check the disk so it can be restored.But when I try that it says it can't be scanned while it's in use, then it says it will scan and fix errors when I restart my computer but after 12 times I can safely say it's not doing that.

Anybody know how to fix this it's getting worse every hour as thing fall apart.

I'm not sure if I could help you, but you have to find out how to restore it to factory settings

my computer is a thinkpad, so it comes with a whole bunch of thinkvintage software, most of which is rly shitty. but it's got a rescue and recovery program that i can access rather than regular startup and thats how i do it.

during start up keep hitting f10
it will open in safe mode
