Besides all the changes that the 1.9 prerelease had, they went and replaced many sounds and touched up many glitches they've never resolved.

Except that stupid pieces of ladder disappearing glitch.

Anyway, this fucker plays pretty damn stable.

I was playing the client from the actual server and I had no problems. I've never been able to do that before.

I want to plan some special things on the day of the final release of Minecraft.

For one, I will fix all the server problems and it's connection issues. I'll have a proper backup system and a rank system with support for multiple worlds.

Basically, the biggest issue with reusing the old RIA world is the fact that it was generated pre-biome update.

The fact is, that world may never spawn Strongholds unless I do some serious shit.

So, having a gateway to the old world seems to be one solution for that.

I don't think too many people who have seen the new biomes will complain about that because IMO, the new biomes beat the SHIT out of that old crap.

If we use the old world, we could reset some areas. This could be a compromise. Though, we are really spread out. :3

It's also possible we can transplant the visible area of our world into another one. Don't know how we'd go about this yet, but I know it's possible.

Just upload the old world info somewhere for peeps to download if they care/want their stuff saved, and clear the fucker out.

I used to run a minecraft server, and what I learned is that if you give the regular players any say in when a reset is done, you'll never get an agreement.

Some will want a reset and upgrade to the new version
others will not want to lose their buildings
others will not want to lose their diamonds and such.

We were running like 1.3 when 1.7 was released and I told them "enough is fucking enough, download the files from (hyperlink) if you want them, but server resets in 72 hours".

If you don't "force" a reset sometimes, you'll never get one.  On my server, everyone knew that every 90 days, the server would reset.  Eventually, I got tired of running the server myself and made the mistake of handing it off to someone who brutally murdered it.

I think you are right.

A lot of the original players haven't signed in for a long time anyway.

But, you know, the portal to the old world where players can retrieve some of their stuff might be interested.

maybe, but sometimes a fresh start will bring people to the server and if you want it fair, don't let anyone get their old stuff.

Sometimes, the best thing that can happen, is a cleansing apocalypse.

There is literally a LOST island Minecraft world.

I like the idea of a bordered world and a single large island seems to accomplish that.

I've found some seeds that are like this. Biggest problem with the one I really like is that your first spawn is the bottom of an ocean.

I don't know if I'm even going to start playing again after the update. It doesn't really hold my interest anymore. Plus my gaming time is pretty much divided between Skyrim and the MGS HD collection.

I do like the idea of there being an actual goal in the game, though.
