I judge a comedy as one of my favorite films if it makes me laugh more than most other comedies. Drama is boring.
I watch movies for their emotional effect on me. Some dramas are boring, others are amazing. Some comedies are hilarious, but don't achieve anything beyond humor.

If a movie is a drama, I watch it for some drama/emotion. If its a comedy, I only watch it for the laughs. If its an action, I watch it to see explosions. <_< Thats kinda rule of thumb. And there are good and bad ones for each. I really need to make a list of my favorite movies sometime.

If I wanted to achieve something other than humor, I'd watch some other movie. Like an action or horror... thing. I want my entertainment to be entertaining.

Obviously, I watch the just funny ones. Holy Grail is hilarious.

As I said, my favorite movies are those that affect me emotionally. Holy Grail doesn't achieve that, but Juno does.

EDIT: Bolded for emphasis.

<_< Holy Grail shouldn't effect you emotionally, its for laughs. Sounds like you're putting down normal comedies.

I'm not putting them down, I'm separating them into two categories:
-Simple entertainment
-Emotionally involved entertainment

I love watching the former, but I don't consider them among my favorite films, which are absolute works of art to me. Only the latter fulfills that to me.

i think there are two groups when talking about juno
-those who think it was an amazing movie that was not just funny but also emotional (specialy if you've had a problem like this)
-those who dont like it for some reason, be it they wanted something else or mabey they just found too many flaws in it
personaly i loved it because to me it seems so real (one of my good friends got an abortion just last week she is one of many around here doing just that)

That was followed by about 15 minutes of silence and then someone mentioned that a lot of people like cake."

And there are people who don't know that movie cause it NEVER was in the cinemas in their countries (or for some other reasons).
